I have had calls from three different "mediation" groups this week, trying to collect on old payday loan debts. Now, I worked with a consolidation agency and paid all loans to the best of my knowledge. Maybe some were left with a balance, but regardless, I am not giving these scammers a red cent. The way that they threaten and harass (they have called THREE family members!) is a clear indication that they are not legit.
I am just curious though as to what happened all of a sudden for these jerks to start calling me about these old debts? Anyone else having the same issue? (PS - if you are, do NOT give these people anything! Do not let them scare you!)
I politely told one that I was not going to be giving him any financial info because I thought he was a scam. He replied "I'll show you how much of a scam I am - I am going to call these relatives of yours and tell them that they will be going to court with you". My reply was "Umm, threatening to make illegal phones calls isn't a very good way to prove that you are legitimate". Then he hung up on me :D

This guy just called again! He didn't even remember speaking to me last week! Last week, he told me he was from "Goldberg Maxwell"; now he says that he is from "Morgan Jackson". This jerk did indeed call family members (as he threatened to do) after hanging up on me, and told them that they "were persons of interest" in my case. I would LOVE to file charges against these sharks, but I have no contact info for them (beyond the number they call from). They refuse to provide any info and online searches what may be the street address (in Buffalo, NY) but I can't confirm that.
I live in Pennsylvania, and I am not even sure who the original debt supposedly is with. I think he said cashjar, but he is very vague. He says that this is from 2008. When i replied that here in PA, the SOL is 4 years,he responded "that's why they are pursuing this". What an idiot...
