I am once again doing some research for a friend. She had received a court summons and unfortuanately ignored it. She now is having her wages garnished. Summons was served on 08/25/2010. She just got done with one garnishment, and now this one starts. In helping her, I noticed under Wisconsin Law, that if she receives Medical Assistance (Badger Care) and WIC (Women with Infant Children) Even though the garnishment started, can she go back and stop it, given this information. I am hoping someone can help, as she is on her last leg as it is. I ma just not that knowledgable in the way of Garnishment laws....Please help!

She should contact Kohn Law firm, let them know she is receiving Public Assistance (Badgercare, Foodshare, etc) and is currently "Exempt From Garnishment".... They will send a letter for her to fill out to provide proof (A Foodshare/WIC Printout or Badgercare Case# with her name on it) and they will stop all garnishment proceedings, until 6 months AFTER she stops receiving Public Assistance.... I hope this helps! :)

She finally called the compnay and they told her to deal with her payroll department. She called her Payroll department and filled out one simple form, and it is stopped. I cannot express how elated she is to have almost $500 a month extra in her pocket to pay bills, live, and just save. Thank you to everyne on here!
