Hello from CALIFORNIA!

My parents received a write of execution. It says property to be levied upon is described as follows:

"Levy on any and all accounts and safe deposit boxes in the judgment deptor's name. SSN ####."

My parents have nothing, don't own property, no car, barely have anything in their checking accounts except for the SS benefits that are directly deposited. They understand their credit is trashed, but they are in no position to repay the debt now.

1. Usually how long before a bank account actually gets frozen? It's been a month since the letter and so far, nothing has happened.
2. Can their Social Security benefit direct deposits be taken?
3. Is a retirement contribution plan like a roth ira protected?
4. I read somewhere that the creditors will stop the freeze if their is insufficient funds due to the bank fees for returned checks. Is this true? Does this mean my parents have nothing to worry about since they really have no income whatsoever, and nothing in their checking accounts?

Please advise, thank you.

Thank you in advance.
