Hello all, thanks in advance for the help!
My wife received a summons today from Palisade Collections / Wolpoff & Abramsom Law Firm for an old HSBC credit card. It is a valid debt, and we do have the ability to pay it ($960). Should we go ahead and call the attorney that filed for the judgement or call Palisade? At this point, we just want to make it go away and fortunately have the funds to pay it.
Thanks again!

Please forgive my innocence, but I guess a collection agency can't send you a summon. It needs to be served by the officials at the office of the sheriff. Hence, please check out if it's actually the subpoena or a simple letter of collection.

If the later is the case, then you need to send a proper DV letter to the CA.

Depending how old it is, the SOL might have gone
past. If it did and you can prove it, they can't sue you.

What state do you live in?

when was the last time a payment was made?

Did you call the court house to be positive it's
a real case?

Palisades Collections are a real shady company. do
not give them any personal information.Wolpoff & Abramsom Law Firm is one of the WORST collectors out there. Go to buddhibbs.com to read more about them under agencys to avoid.

You also need to make sure that Wolpoff & Abramsom Law Firm is licensed to practice law in your state.
