I just received an alert on one of my credit reports that Zenith left a neg entry. It don't say what the account if for, just an amount and next to that it says "collections". I have an idea what account it can be, and this account is over 6 years ago. What exactly does that mean when they leave an entry on there? I never received anything from them

Send Zenith a debt validation letter demanding proof of the debt. If the Statute of Limitation has expired tell them in the letter that the SOL has expired and that they are in violation of the FCRA and they need to remove the entry. Also dispute it with the Reporting agency.

Sorry but since we don't know what state the OP is in, you don't know if SOL has expired. Also, SOL and reporting period are 2 seperate things. OP stated 6 years but 6 years from what? DOLP, DOFD....reporting period is 7 yrs +180 days from DOFD. No violations of the FCRA based on this post. Would suggest you read up on the FCRA and fdcpa before submitting your opinion.

Since this sentence is wrong in it's entirety...I didn't pay much attention to your "IF". People come here looking for advice. Giving them bad information doesn't help them one bit. If the OP sent that to the CA all they would do is laugh as they were throwing it away. Again...If you don't know what you're talking about refrain form giving your opinion.

Nascardevil, I have to agrre with you, there are way to many posters that are posting incorrect information. This causes a lot of confusion to those that are looking for answers and desperately need help. I have been hoping that the moderators would step in and delete the post that contain the bad advice or information.

If I dispute with the CRA's, would they be able to tell me what it's for and would that "open a can of worms

It depends on how you dispute it. If you dispute as "not mine" or "no knowledge of account", The CRA's will either delete or the CA will verify the tradeline and may or may not provide more info. If you dispute as "mutiple inaccuracies - please verify all info", you'll likely find out who the OC or JDB is that holds the account. As to whether or not it would open up a can of worms, do you have any idea what it might be? If so, could it still be w/in SOL? How much is the debt for? What state are you in? Personal experience with Zenith was 1 dunning letter which I DV'd and never heard from them again.

I had three clean reports. I was at 750 on all three. zenith acquistions reported a stolen credit card from 5 years ago for $240 and my scores droped to 650. They changed the account number and now I can't get it deleted. They keep changing the account number and raising the amount each week. It's now past $966.00 The three credit bureaus say it's a new account and continue to list it. Certified letters are ignored. I am a television producer and I have asked one of my reporters to do a story on it, offering my records as background, but even he has been stumped. Have you disputed with all 3 credit bureaus and Zenith verified? If so, request an investigation with Zenith per Sec 623 of the FCRA. They have 30 days to respond with supporting documentation. You said this CC was stolen. Was a police report filed? Do you still have that information? If so, redact any personal info from it(SS#) and send it with the 623 request. If they do not respond....file suit.
