Too late for CCCS?

This is my first post here. Today I received a call from Zwicker & Associates that I need to pay my Amex balance in full or be dragged to court.
The funny thing here is that I was on a payment plan with Amex, made all the payments on time, but missed one payment on another card, hence the referral to the law firm for the balance on both cards!
These guys pretty much yelled at me the whole time and I hung up on them.
My question is this - is it too late for me to get into a DMP to stop the harassment, or can they drag me to court?
I have yet to receive any court documents.
Thanks.

From my experience, it probably is. I have dealt with CCCS before, and I had a coupel of accounts that were with collection agencies (NCO and NAFS), and the collectors would not even talk to the counselors. I was told that if they would accept paymets, it would be on the full amount that they claimed was owed.
Have you contacted AMEX about this. Th referrral may have been automatic. They may recall the account. However, from my experience, I would not expect them to work with the CCCS agency. On a side note, I recently contacted a CCCS company when my hours got cu at work. The best offer they could get me was to lower my monthly payment $15, and charge a $39 fee every month for that. They even quoted me a higher payment an interest rate than I already had on one account.
