Patriotm, you can inform your consultant about this incidence. I believe he will be able to handle it more proficiently.
It is true that as long as you are making payments towards your debt, no legal action can be filed against you. Ellis calls are becoming a pain!!
Ellis Crosby
I recieved a phone call at my home yesterday, stating that it was imperative myself or my lawyer call this lady back. When I returned the call she stated that she was calling from Ellis Crosby and Associates. She told me that paperwork was going to be filed in the county where I reside that I was being charged with theft and collateral theft by deception. I asked her what this was in regards to and she told me a payday loan from JD marketing.. I asked her if i could pay it off and she told me that I needed to go make the payment by 6 tonight or the paperwork would be filed. I moneygrammed 1/2 of the amount she stated. Came into work this am and saw all the postings does anyone know if I can get that money back??????
Money back?
Pooh Girl- Join the law suit from the attorney general is the only way to MAYBE get the money back. They are pressing for everyone to get money back that they paid out. Keep your recepit and go to myfloridalegal.com and look type in Ellis Crosby and Associates. Then call their number at the Attorney Generals office and ask to speak with Summer Saladino. She can give you further instructions.

You might have gotten off lukcy if you're not having to pay back anything else.
Figuring $25 for every $100 borrowed...a $200 loan would be $250 repayment, and $25 for each bounced transacation....

When did you first take this loan out? I've had a payday loan before and never had this kind of trouble. I agree with the suggestion to contact the Attorney General. I'm currently in a situation where I was the victim of a scam and lost a considerable amount of money and the Attorney General got back to me within 3 hours of contacting them to set up an investigation. It's worth a try.

Hey patriotm, welcome to the boards!
Just know that you aren't alone; several of us here had the "pleasure" of being contacted by Ellis. I was one of them. I sent them a fax telling them not to call me, that they werent getting any money unless they could validate my debt, and that if they called me again I would take legal action. I havent heard from them since. Definitely contact the ACA, and the Atorney General. Hopefully soon, they will not be allowed to practice their illegitimate "business" anymore.

Hey good for all of you. My mother got a call yesterday with similar situations. The person calling her identified herself as Shannon Moore. She refused to set up payment options for my mother. I got involved. Requested my mother to obtain copies of her closed bank statement. Turns out that she had indeed paid her loan in full just as she had thought and then some. A real shame you have to find out you have been had when a debt collector threatens to have you thrown in jail. My mother was almost in tears when they called to threaten her with such non sense. Does she have a case against? You bet your bottom dollar. Will she ever see any of her money back from the lender? Probably not. Lots of luck to everyone. My mother would have been taken for additional money had she not got me involved. In total they would have collected over $1,000 for a $300 loan had she not informed me and I stepped in. Shame on these people.

I am in the same boat as you, sent the letter after they told me "good luck" and haven't heard from them since (early July).... what are you doing now? Do you just wait, I can't payback the original debtor (FSM) they won't even talk to you....

I think that our debt will be taken care by some other company whom we shall be paying. Let's wait for the time being. But we should not pay to Ellis. It won't go to our debt account. It will go to their pocket.
ellis crosby & associates
Thank you all that I found this site. I just wrote my letter to the attorney general against these people and what they did to me. I paid them after borrowing the money but a $390.00 payment owed to FSM turned to $665.00. Now I am going after FSM for false facts on their contract. They suppose to settle with you and they sold the acct. Thanks to all

Hi Valerie
Welcome to the forums. It's nice that you got the required information at the right time. Make sure that you take necessary actions against any type of illegal claims. You should have a proper validation of the account showing the complete break up of each figure.
We anticipate that you will keep visiting this forum for future updates.

I also told Sonic something along the lines with I'll just wait till this gets to an outside agency (on my 3rd loan--1st one going bad) and they told me they didn't do that.
I'm not sure what would of happended if I hadn't paid it off finally. I probably would be getting calls with outragous fees tacked on.
