NCO is a collections agency. They are trying to verify that they have the correct debtor before proceeding any futher with the conversation because it involves personal information. It is illegal to give detailed information out to the wrong party. Veryfing identity is important.
I suggest you check through all of your mail you considered junk mail because a lot of collection notices get discarded that way. Or pull a credit report. Chances are it's on there if it is indeed the correct debtor.

I know they are a collections agency. I check my mail thoroughly every day and I have never seen anything from these folks. The thing that bugs my husband is how do we know if the guy calling was really calling from NCO and not some scam to give us my husband's SSN for identity theft. We have no idea what they would be calling for. Then when we tried to do a *69 to get the number, it said it was an unknown number. So we signed up for Iobi with Verizon which is an intenet managed database which will allow us to block all calls from "Unavailable", "Unknown", and "Private" numbers. Since most CA show up that way for all you folks, this service is only $7.95 a month from Verizon.

If the person from NCO has a valid reason to call your husband, he should send something in writing within 5 days after placing the call. They might be having all the details about your husband if they are making valid collections. So, ask the person to give out the info what he has and you will verify it for him. If he gives out wrong info, you have reasons to ignore the call.
