I've settled my Chase and Advanta Cards at 35% after only three - four months on non-payment. My american express went to Zwicker and associates - I have been negotiating with them - but can't get them past 55% and now they tell me they are filing suit - last missed payment was Nov 08 - and it's march 09. Are they lying to me? I know it's illegal - but what does everything think? Also has anyone settled for less than 55% with them - I hate to pay them that much when everyone else got 35% and were actually not bad to work with.

you people do realize, that not only Z&A but every debt collection company out there is under extreme scrutiny because people dont want to pay their debts. times are tough right now, anyone will tell you that, you cant pay your bills then you cant, but how about all the people, doctors, lawyers, etc that have 20k+ in debt, but still manage to pay off that 60,000$ car loan or half million dollar house. AMEX, chase, discover, w.e card you have, and you dont pay, its their right to secure their money. As for harassing phone calls, Z&A will follow all laws, everything is done automatically with computers so the same person could not be called twice, and theyre gonna call your work, friends, family, home, cell phone, w.e to reach you so that you can pay your debt, if your really that pissy about having these calls made, did you ever think of paying your bill? people at Z&A will work with you, but theyre just doing their jobs

I too have recently been contacted by Zwicker for my Amex card. I may be past due 90 days, but I have not neglected to at least make some type of monthly payment to show that I am aware I have an obligation to pay. During the transition of being turned over and hearing anything, in the last three weeks, I have made a payment every week in trying to get caught up ... but no one at Amex can talk to me cuz they say my file is locked and I can only deal with Zwicker. I am not in a position to pay this in full or off over a short period of time ($20K) ... and since I am now only a mere $900 owing ($450 of which is current), I just don't understand why Amex won't talk to me ... am I not in touch with the right people at Amex or does anyone know how to get through to the right person who will take the time to personally look at my record instead ... it doesn't look like Amex takes a good look at the background of individuals payment history before whizzing them off to a collection agency!

I have been contacted by Zwicker, nice gentlemen. I told him what I could pay. They agreed. It looks to be 45%. I will be thrilled move on. My company went out of business and I am liable for the debt..not only credit but vendors etc. A poor business decision, I hope they will work with me and allow this to close. I have many others to deal with. It is a debt and I am thankful that they are working with me.

i ws sued by zwicker but when it all ended there was no judgment. im not sure exactly what it was. do they ever go to court simply to show the evidence of the debt exists so that they can come back later and refile for a judgment? its not even on any of my credit reports.

Read the thread of stories about Zwicker. We have an AMEX on which we made two months of partial payments. We discussed this with AMEX. They took the money but turned around and still stated that we would be 60 days past due. On October 11, AMEX closed the account and on October 27 referred it out to Zwicker. We've received two calls from them today already. We called AMEX today but got nowhere. Any suggestions on how to deal with Zwicker? Looks like settlement is the only option?

They will file suit and garnish wages, it happened to us. I could not get them below 60 cents on the dollar in one lump sum pay off to discontinue the garnishment. I would say if you can get 55 cents on the dollar on a 3-month you should take the deal.

Zwicker called me, I think I will let them sue me......I wan them to waste as much time, effort and money on this case as they can. I would really like it if they could waste some court room time as well......the more the merrier.....then when I feel they have done all they can do I'm filing chap 7.......piss on them, piss on the banks, you get the idea, I broke bad on the whole thing 90 days ago...so what I won't have any credit.......big deal.....cash is king.

I've had a Discover account that I haven't paid in over 2 years. Zwicker is handling the account, they have threatened to sue on many occasions but haven't yet. I've been settling other debts because they actually are more willing to work with me. Zwicker will be the LAST creditor that I pay off. No matter how long you have to make them wait, after you pay off the debt your credit score will start to rise after 6 months. I've paid off almost all of my other debts and have seen my credit score rise over 100 points in the last 6 months and have had no problems getting a loan for a new car.

Amex has been bad since i got the card. The servise was terrible and they lied to me about card benefits, so i hate to pay them more then 30%. if they don't want money from me i will let them sell to third party for even less. I'd rather pay the third party then amex. Not to mention they are the last in line to be taken care of.
