I guarantee you the fun part of it :). This is about Google listing. It is both fortunate and unfortunate that most of our new members find this forum through Google search engine listing. I want your help in choosing a good title, description for DebtCC homepage in google results.

Current Title: debt consolidation Care - Internet's first get-out-of-debt community

Current Description: Debt consolidation care is a community of 100000+ members. Includes blog, forums, wiki, groups, and events. Meet friends who live, work, study around you ...

We wanted to reflect a community feeling in the title and description but may be people are not liking it. I want your help in making it really attractive that will attract more people to click on DebtCC from the list of the sites. I am attaching a snapshot of search result page for keyword debt consolidation.

I was also wondering whether people really care about community while searching for debt consolidation? May be they are too much in hurry for finding a professional help for their debt. Look at description for most of the sites, they are focusing on solving their debts and offering a solution.

I like the family appeal- but maybe we need to put more of how we help and with what. Like help and solutions for debt problems, pdls, credit repair, bankruptcy, etc--instead of it looking more like a place to blog and meet friends--not that that isn't ok--but when you are desperate- you want specific answers! Then when they jopin, they will find the help, support and friendship that we offer

Just a thought..Karen

I personally like it the way it is. It reflects "community" which automatically makes people feel welcome. The sites above it, with the exception of wikopedia, are advertising individual companies that the average person would be leary of. Sort of like picking a name from the yellow pages. I personally found the site by googling Route 66 Funding to find out who these weird people were.
Just my opinion.

I meant join not jopin!! I like the "family" and community feel also. But I was desperate to find out what this collection agency could do to me and needed answers fast- Maybe make it look like we aren't soliciting for consolidation companies, but are offering solutions, from which they are free to choose from..KAren

Whats a general feeling about the line "includes blog, forums, wiki, groups, and events. Meet friends who live, work, study around you ..."?

Are people comfortable reading the words blog, forums, wiki etc?

Most of these words (like blog and wiki) come under most hated words on Internet .. please see blog.lorla.com/most-hated-internet-words-includes-blog/

I changed the description of the website to this:

Quote:

debt consolidation care is a community of 103,000+ members. Get a FREE confidential counseling from DebtCC financial coach. Meet friends who live, work, study around you and are moving towards becoming debt free.

Let me know if it looks good.

After reading all the posts I changed it again. Here is the new description:

Quote:

We are a community of 103,000+ members fighting against debt problems, pdls. Get a FREE confidential counseling from DebtCC financial coach.

I took this out of many comments we got.

solutions for debt problems, pdls, credit repair, bankruptcy, etc-

    Added .. thanks Karen

instead of it looking more like a place to blog and meet friends-- ....the lst thing I was interest in was blogs, and wiki--I need answers!!
    I removed the sentence, thanks

I would click on the 3rd one first. Because it has "information" in the title.

Mommontoya and tsacgiv, I wanted to add it but wasn't sure where to fit in with the new description. Do others also feel that information in description or title can be effective? Please let me know how I can accommodate this word within the description keeping it really short.

  • Quote:

think adding "free consultation" may help but I am with everyone else here.

Added :), thanks frogpatch for the suggestion.

Lets keep thinking more on this issue.

If I were looking to work on debt consolidation I would have clicked on the third from the last. Having a community is all well and good but when it comes to someone looking for a way out then seeing the upfront product is what I would be looking for.

I think instead on pushing family, friends and community in advertisement saving money, financial problem solving, getting out of CC debt, PDL's should be out there up front.

I found this site by looking for a specific company because I was looking for user comments.

Everyone has really good suggestions.

Personally, when I see "FREE" I tend to think it's some sort of scam, or there's a hidden catch to it all. Or, I know if I click on something that says FREE then I will be bombarded with pop-up ads. So I really stay away from any link that has the word "free" in it.

Saying that we have a community of 103,000 members is a good thing, I think. Some sites might say something like "We've helped 9999 people get control of their debt" -- that is past-tense and just a statistic -- makes me think of McDonald's and how many burgers they've served --- makes it seem like you're just a number to them. In contrast, saying we're a "community" makes us seem open and welcoming. You won't just be a number if you come here.

I think it is important to impress that the members here take an active and on-going role and can help potential visitors by sharing the knowledge/experience they have.

I also think using the word "support" would help

Please help me draft one with the word support.

Quote:
and could we spell out the words payday loans?

Thanks, it is done.

Yes, most of us will feel like that but a FREE counseling or a talk is something that you can actually associate it with the word FREE. More opinion about the word free will be helpful.

In my opinion the numbers helps us differentiate ourselves from others by being a really big community. The number makes our claims more authentic.

Yes, that is really needed. Please help me with small sentences to reflect it.

Quote:
Quite a lot of people probably find these forums after being threatened by credtors/collectors, and desperately googling for some sort of information.

Yes and I am glad that as a community we were able to help many thousands with helpful information and support.

Oh my, I wasn't saying that "a community of 103,000+ members" is a bad thing to say. I actually do think that's a good thing to show we have so many members here.

I was just comparing it to the way another place might say it, and I think the word "community" gives more emphasis on relationship than statistic, which is why I think it makes us stand out more than others. Sorry, maybe I wasn't writing very clear last night.

On the "free" issue, maybe you can fit in "no cost" instead. Or if there is room, say something like "Members have access to financial coaches who provide confidential counseling at no cost."

Just a question - how much space do you have to type up a description?
