I took out a cash advance loan with cashadvance.net over a year ago but have only been paying the interest on it. Recently my income has drastically changed and I called them to try and work out some sort of repayment plan as my bank account was overdrawn.
I was told to get a prepaid debit card, pay $50 every two weeks to reduce the principle (they took off the $76). The agreement was to pay it on the 18th. On the 11th $50 was attempted to be taken out of my bank three times. I called and they said it was an error on their part. I notified the bank with a letter from CashAdvance stating that it was an error on their part. My bank in turn said it wasn't their error and they were not going to reverse the fees. Now Cashadvance is saying I haven't made a payment since October 30 and the resubmit was from 10/16, which I called to let them know the funds would not be available and they said it had already gone through.
I was told by a manager that if I did not contact them on Monday it would go to collections. Now she's saying they don't give refunds to people in collections and the discount offered was it. My problem is that the discount was offered when I first called, so to say this was to resolve the error in attempting to debit my account makes no sense. The fact that they attempted to collect $50 this time instead of $76 just proves that someone obviously looked at the account in order to deduct less and it was just a computer error. Is there anything that can be done.

You have way over paid theses leeches and they should not get another dime. There is nothing they can do to collect an illegal loan in your state. Open a new account in another bank and move on. Do not forget to tell you HR people that you need a live check for a while.

I would imagine that if you have been a customer for that long that they would want to help you out, although it does not seem that they cared too much when they charged those fee's on your account.

nj is right. Some credit unions will let you get a new account number. But if you have to move accounts, you just have to deal with it. PDL's have a million ways to get around a stop-payment.
