I had a neg. report on my credit report made by asset acceptance. I knew I had taken care of the matter, so I disputed it. I won, I recieved a letter from credit reporting agencies stating it would be or has been removed. Great news. Well heres the thing, so why does asset acceptance still call and harass me? If they couldnt validate it to the credit agency why are they still after me? Aside from the annoying phone calls I suppose its no big deal, Its not hurting my credit at all. Its past the sol why are they wasting theres and my time? I told them I would not pay it. Then they tell me its going to continue to collect intrest and go up, Should I care? Is there anyway it could get put back on my report? or anyway they can make me pay it? Im in michigan

Beware of Asset Acceptance. They can do anything with your credit file if you do not monitor it constantly. They are one of the worst collection agencies.

Your first move should be to check your credit report and see if this account has been removed from your file. Once you have seen the account being removed, write a letter to Asset Acceptance mentioning the fact that they are contacting you for wrong reasons. You must mention to stop all the calls and if they try to hit your file in a negative way, you will be in charge of filing a legal case against them. They will be held responsible for hurting your credit as per the fdcpa laws.

Send this letter through certified mail with return receipt requested. Have copies documented in your file for records. In this way, you will be able to cover your base.
