Hi all, does that address look familiar to anyone?
I have a negative entry on my credit report, the above address is all there is, no phone #, no name, and when I Google the address I come up with some online school I have never heard of.

One thing I do know, the original creditor is Comcast cable, and I also know I paid them, and they even know I paid them (they looked)!

Apparently I have already also unknowingly paid the no name collector 100.00, and this little tid bit of trash on my credit record is over the 38.00 balance (I probably don't owe).

This forum is so well organized I didn't want to take a chance of posting this in the wrong area, I would appreciate any help offered, thanks.

Thank you Mary, I find the name a bit ironic (Credit Protection).

I searched some more, after finding that name in the UK, I then checked anywho.com and came up with the following,
Credit Protection Association
14001 Dallas Parkway, Dallas, TX 75240

phone: (781) 871-6777

I will try calling that phone number in the morning, thanks again...John

Hi Clay, thanks for mentioning that!
I disputed this one and a 2002 capital one account 02-10-2006, spose I should hold off on the phone call and see what happens first, Im relieved to know I didnt mess up by disputing.

I didnt know such forums excisted, I am greatful, it looks like I have lots of reading ahead of me.

I disputed these on the experian pages at annualcreditreport.com incase anyone hasnt heard, that web will give you free printable credit reports from the 3 biggies with no strings attached (once a year).
I am not sure if I need to enter my disputes with all 3 or if its just a one shot deal, Thanks...John

Mr. X,

i feel your pain. You want to contact Credit Protection Association, 14001 Dallas Parkway, Dallas TX 75240. 781-871-6777. Or P.O. Box 802068, Dallas, TX 75380, 972-677-6305.
I have faxed (several times) and mailed a copy of my cancelled check for payment to them. And they are still giving me the round-around. I just found the physical address today. I am going to mail a certified, return receipt letter along w/ my cancelled check copy today.
Wish me luck!

"Link made inactive as per forum rules-Mike"
My apologies Mike, I skimmed the rules, thinking I could do no wrong;)

Best of luck loanmaker, and thanks so much for the info, BTW I did dispute this (electronically), and it didn't work in my favor, and still didn't get a phone# and address, although I did get a negative capital one card report switched from bad to good :)

Was able to get a 1 yr 0% credit card from my bank (750. max).

You have all been a great help, and I thank you for that, I am a farmer and its GAME ON!
I will check in from time to time, and next winter hope to finish sprucing up the credit report, and contribute to this forum, thanks again all...John

I too have had a run-in with them compliments of Charter Cable in St. Louis. I paid them twice and they will NOT refun my money. I have exhausted all avenues except that of an attorney. The are the "Credit Protection Association" and in my opinion, they are worthless. They demanded a copy of my bank statement - fat chance. Not much sense trying to call them back either, they are of no help. Not for $55.00 - that was overpaid to them. Jerks.

If you don't think it is a valid entry, dispute it with the CRA, if nothing else they will provide you with the results of their investigation, and if the entry remains, they will give you the contact information to deal with the debt.[/quote]

Well the dispute apparently worked, they are gone (with my hundred bucks), and Comcast and I have moved to a new tier of communication since I mentioned they would probably be involved in the resulting law suit along with "credit protection".

I hope you all have as good of luck with them as I did (without loosing money).
I agree it is probably not wise to give these scumbags any personal info especially a checking account #!
Thank you all for helping me, I hope I can return the favor in the near future, see ya after harvest (some heads are gonna roll). 8)

I dealt with Credit protection Agency awhile ago. They appeared on my CR and were collecting $153 for Charter Fort Worth , when I had never even done business with that company. I diputed the debt with TransUnion and they came back that Credit Protection had verified the debt. I sent CPA a certified /receipt letter denying the debt and demanding proof. They sent me a letter back saying that the debt was a mistake, they were closing my account and would remove the CR entry. I just checked my CR and the entry is still there in TransUnion. I'm firing off another letter (cert./return receipt) telling them that they might want to remove the erroneous entry immediately because if I am economically harmed by their erroneous entry they are going to end up in court. With no documentation that the debt is valid and the letter I have from them admitting such , they are toast if we end up in court.

Credit Protection Phone number

Here is a number that you will actually get a live person to answer the phone. They will then just connect you to customer service. I hope this helps, I managed to get through to them and finally am getting things moving.

Good luck
