Getting Better, but...
Date: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 10:35
Me: 23 year old Law student
Debt:
1) Credit Card 1: 10,000 in debt (give or take) 4 months overdue. Made a payment arraignment so they stop reporting me late, 205 a month. First payment made this month.
2) Credit Card 2: 6,500 in debt. 6 months overdue, threatened with a charge-off. Made a payment plan for lower interest and to stop reporting late, 322 a month. First payment made this month.
3) Credit Card 3: 500 in debt. Waaaay overdue (6 months). 92 in payments, first one made this month.
The calls from collectors were so stressful. No one has ANY idea I am in such a bad situation. I am a law student and know the bar that I try to get admitted to will reject me if I don't clean myself up. I am scared my credit is bad beyond repair. I had also overdrawn my checking account, but finally got it back above the red this month.
My sob story: Loss of job immediately followed by medical problem w/o insurance.
The bills are killing me. But at this point I am going without anything (cable, cell, good food, anything) just to make my minimums and payment programs and get myself back.
Anyone with suggestions or advice is more then welcome to comment. I am just relieved to have written this out and told someone. It stresses me so badly I can hardly sleep at night.
