I recently received a letter from a Law Offices of Mitchell N. Kay P.C. trying to collect a debt I owe. But the creditor is World Financial Network National Bank. Who do I pay? Will they report to the credit bureu that i payed the amount owed?

Welcome to the Forums :D Here is a link that explains settling your debt at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/steps.html it also includes sample letters for debt validation. The law office is also serving as a collector. They need to be sent a DV letter, to show they are legally bound to collect on this debt. Make sure you keep a copy, and send it certified, return receipt. You want to make sure this debt is valid, the amount, and it it's sill in the SOL period. Good luck, ask questions, we are here to help!..KAren

You can pay either to the original creditor or to the law office. But if the debt is sold by the original creditor, you will have to pay to the law office only. If you are dealing with the law office, first confirm that they have your debt details correctly before making a payment. You may call the original company also and work out direct payment arrangements. You won't need to pay anything to the law office in that case. Whoever receives your payments is required to update with the bureaus.

Hold your horses before you give them a dime.

Check out classaction.com and lawcash.com for class action suit against this scavenger debt collector. Google search dealing with scavenger debt collectors like Mitchell N. Kay and know your rights before responding or admitting any debt to these guys!
