Cleaning Credit...Have questions....
Date: Wed, 03/14/2007 - 12:37
Anyways, I am repairing hubbys credit report and there are some items that go back to 1998,1999,2000,2001 nothing shows a closed date, but they do show balance date with if so like the one says balance date 9-2001 then paid or paying as agreed the balance amount is $0 can we dispute and have it deleted from the report or do we need to wait longer. I am just trying to get all that I can off the report. Also one is Benefcl/HFC and I have to reported one to Transunion the other to Equifax, but the Transunion balance date is 1-97 and the Equifax is 6-2005 why is there a difference in date they are the same account and the same amount and it says that its closed or paid account/zero balance.
Anyways, I was not sure how long I had to wait to get some of these accounts totally deleted off. Is the balance date the close date? But, if they seem to keep reporting if there is a 0 balance how do we get them taken off?
My last question was we had a civil suit with capital one that was filed, but we filed bk 7 back in 2004 so it never went to court and the balance says 0 can this be removed yet? or shown differently than civil suit filed? It doesn't say anywhere that it was closed or Cancelled due to BK 7.
Also are there any template letters to send to have items removed.
Thanks,
Sward

You can try to dispute anything on your CR. Entries left unverified after 30 days should be deleted, although once verified, they can reappear. Negative entries remain on it for 7 years from the date of your last payment (I think goudah said 7 years + 6 months).
You can dispute the capone account, I believe it should accurately reflect the BK status.
Here are 20+ template letters for various debt related mailings, you should find what you need: www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/

As far as I know accurate negative entries remain for seven years to ten years from the date of first delinquency. It's not from the last payment date.
If the accounts are listed with a zero balance, then it's possible that the creditor has sold your account to some outside collection agency if not paid. Call the creditor who is doing the reporting with the bureaus and get your latest account status. They will update your file with the latest information.

Also, if you filed CH7, it I remember right, that will stay on your credit report for 10 years instead of 7.
