In Need of Advice

I don't know if this is where I need to post this or not, but I trust a mod will move it if not.
I recently paid off a credit card account I had some problems with in college. I overpaid and I am due a refund from the creditor. I spoke with them a month ago to find out if it was paid off and learned about the refund. I called a week ago to ask them about it and was told it would be here by the 26th. The 26th came and no check. I called them yesterday, and was told it would be "sometime next week." I'm feeling rather frustrated with this since I paid them off a month ago. Do I need to send them a letter asking about my refund rather than calling?
