Once an account becomes delinquent or charged off, it is generally given to a collection agency. Call your original creditor and inquire about status of the debt. Also check whether statute of limitation of the different debts has expired.

Have you gotten all 3 of your credit reports from annualcreditreport dot com? That is your first step to see exactly what you are dealing with.

Okay, I printed the other two, and they all say exactly the same thing for each account. Now what should I do? Should I start calling the collection agencies, or should I try to find phone numbers and/or address for the original creditors? What do I ask for? What information do I need from them? I don't want to just pay them money without some sort of receipt or verification that I've paid them and that they will update the account on my credit report. Thanks for everyone's help!
