Only 2 Unpaid Collection Debts.. Everything Else is Paid in Full.. Where to Begin?
Date: Fri, 07/09/2010 - 22:39
-One with Verizon Wireless in the amount of $400 - it was $800 but back in 2008 I started paying VZW directly until they sold the account to a collection agency.. the $400 is left
-One with a CA due to a bad roommate situation at an apartment complex. It's in the amount of $374
All of my other accounts are paid in full. I only have one account in good standing, everything else is negative.
I'm looking to move by the end of the year and with a bunch of negative dings (and two outstanding debts), I can't see myself getting approved for an apartment.
I also recently opened a secured credit card through my bank to assist in rebuilding from scratch.
Any suggestions? Pay for delete? What about the accounts that are just 'lingering' there as Paid in Full? Anything I can do?
Thanks for the help.
Hello and welcome, It sounds like you are doing everything you c
Hello and welcome,
It sounds like you are doing everything you can. Perhaps you can negotiate with some of the CAs (collection agencies) for a PFD. However, although I have read and heard a lot about PFD, I am aware of very few successful attemtps at getting PFD. My husband and I had significant debt with several creditors and I was unable to get PFDs on any of them. I would save as much money as you can so that you can put down a significant deposit on an apt. I have known people even after BK to obtain an apt by putting down an extra security deposit.
I would also point out to any potential landlords that you have made every attempt to pay your debt and that you did not file for BK (even though your credit is bad...I would use this to my advantage).
Also, you are to be congratulated on such success and perserverance in taking care of your debt. This too shall pass.....you are to be commended!!! Please let us know how you are doing.
any others?
