old debt AMEX reviewed?
Date: Thu, 03/05/2009 - 00:36
in 1999 i had a 1500$ credit card with them. I used it all and never paid any of it. I did not have a SS number then and I used my student id number to file the application for it. This number appears under SS variation numbers only on my experian report. I was a foreign student then,so very ignorant of the credit world.
What can happen now? 10 years later?
will they put it back on my CR? may they? can they?
what can I do?
can i dispute the wrong social sec number?
thank you all for any advice.

Hi Immigrant If seven years and six months has already expired
Hi Immigrant
If seven years and six months has already expired from the date you made the last payment towards your credit card, you can dispute the listing with the credit bureaus. This is because, as per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, negative information can stay on your credit report for seven years and six months from the date of your first delinquency towards the debt. Moreover you should also check whether the statute of limitation for the debt has expired or not.
It is showing as an AR which is a soft pull. Only you and Amex
It is showing as an AR which is a soft pull. Only you and Amex can see it. AMEX does a monthly soft inquiry on my report even though their tradeline is no longer reporting. I defaulted on it 5 years ago but they removed their tradeline after 2 years. They might even give you the Oasis option which will gove you a new account if you pay in full the pst due amount.
