Hi..OP,..I live in PA, as well. One thing I've learned (but, thankgoodness, didn't get 'trapped into..) is don't go for 'Buy Here-Pay Here' places. They're horrible!! No...they don't check your credit, however, you REALLY don't know WHAT your driving off the lot and the % is REALLY high!! If you miss one payment then they come gt the vehicle. My friend bought one from one of these places. ..she really had a horrible experience with them! However..there ARE some finance companies that deal with bad credit. Citifiancial is one of them. I've dealt with them before. They really do 'work with you' (of course, my opionion, anyway). When I got my loan through them, my Credit score was under 500. Making timely payments with them REALLY helped my score. Hope this advice helps alittle.
If you have 'less than stellar' credit, it is highly recommended
If you have 'less than stellar' credit, it is highly recommended that you don't get your car financed through the dealership, because they will take advantage of your poor credit history. One avenue that you can look into is check out and apply for auto financing online through sites like up2drive.com, or which offer potential car buyers to apply for online. They work with sub-prime loan applicants and if you are approved then you can go into the dealership like a 'cash-buyer' and you don't have to deal with them giving you the run-around.
