Is it true if you dispute a claim on your credit report, and you hear no reply after 30 days, the bad claim has to be erased from your credit report?

Nico is correct. Furthermore, keep in mind that not being able to verify a claim only means that they cannot continue attempts to collect or report it to the credit reporting bureaus. In a perfect world, it would end there, but the reality is that there is nothing stopping them from selling the debt to another agency, which can then resume collection efforts. This is one of the types of debt sometimes referred to as "zombie debt".
