I need to dispute items on my wifes credit reports. When I go to the websites of the reporting agencies they all want you to pay first before you can do anything! I have read nightmare stories about Equifax taking money and refusing to do anything! I need to get this done but I can't afford to pay! I am sure there are many people here who have been down the same road! Your advice is appreciated!

Have you used annualcreditreport.com, you can retrieve your credit reports from the 3 CRA's once a year, anyway, I am sure you have, but the reason I brought it up is because I disputed some of my items during the time I pulled up my credit report and it was taken off within a week, it was pretty cut and clear though, I didn't need to present any proof as they were an outdated items.

Unfortunately my wife pulled them online 6 months ago and never requested hard copies to be mailed! Now I can't do it again free! We are planning to move soon and almost all property managers are checking credit! By the way have you heard of HR3149 which has been introduced! If passed it will prevent employers from using credit reports to make hiring and firing decisions.

I heard about it but wasn't aware it was actually a bill, OMG, I hope it passes! Bad credit has prevented me from getting a good job, I have lost out on a couple of opportunities because of it!
