Paying off old debt to original creditor
Date: Fri, 10/23/2009 - 11:00
I had a cable bill that went to collections in 2006. I spoke to the cable company (original creditor) last week, and they said they can still accept payment for the account.
I do have some collections from early 2003 that will be taken off my credit reports next year, and this will be my only negative account after that.
Would I be able to pay off the bill with the cable company and then file with the current collections agency that it is an invalid debt?

i would talk to the cable company about that.if they assigned it.which it sounds like they did, then they should contact the collector themselves and inform them that you have paid the debt.
Paying them will re-age your debt, keep that in mind. I am not
Paying them will re-age your debt, keep that in mind. I am not saying dont pay them but it will stay on your report 2 more years. I would ask them for a Pay to delete and have them contact the CA they assigned it to.
