Trusting Collection Agency on “Pay to deleteâ€

I have collection agency that is doing a settlement for me it is about 50% less what I actually owe them but they will not sign a “Pay to Delete†agreement however they will sign the letter that the settlement is made between us and they will report “paid†to credit bureaus. They are saying after I pay them then I can dispute this with credit bureaus and when credit bureaus will contact them to verify the information they will not respond to them since it’s paid off and in 30 days it will go out from my credit history.
Question is should I trust them??

Chances are that the collector you are dealing with does not have a login to e-oscar, and doesn't have control whether the company verifies a credit dispute or not.
