How long does it take for the credit reports to show that we have paid off our debts? We are planning to buy a house somewhere in Suisun City, California. We wish to cut down the debt-to-income ratio in order to get lower rates on loans. My father-in-law has sold his house. We are thinking to pay off the debts with the sale proceeds. Will we see the change in the account status immediately? Do we have to wait for a month to see a change in the credit report?

are these current,or late on the CR?if late it will only show as paid late on the CR.derrogatories stay for 7.5yrs from DOFD.so paying a deorrgatory won't remove it,or improve their score.you can negotiate a PFD(pay for delete)prior to paying the debt.but that would be up to the creditor.

It'll take a month or so to see a change on your credit report. Pay for deletes don't work nowadays.

Yes, it may take around a month and if that does not work out, you will have to send a copy of the payments made to the CRA, requesting them to update the status.
