I sent a DV letter to Capital One to dispute the account.

I got back 3 statements and the agreement, but no signed docs etc.

The 3 statements had no activity, but a balance which I don't recognize.

What can I do now?

Jules

You should check out whether or not your collection agency has provided you with the copies of the following documents:
1. Complete payment history of the concerned account in order to prove that the amount the CA wishes to collect is accurate.
2. Agreement with the original creditor that authorises the CA to collect the debt.
3. Agreement which has the signature of the debtor where he promises to pay the actual creditor.

If you haven't received these details, you shouldn't make the payments. You may let the CA know that the validation is improper. You may ask them to validate the debt again.

Sorry, I meant to say this was for the Original Creditor, Capital One. After I disputed with CRA first and launched the investigation with the OC.

I don't see a CA associated with this one.

The statement isn't mine and I know the account isn't mine. There's no signed contract... just an agreement doc.

I understand what's needed for a CA, what do I do now after the OC provides statements?

Thank you for your responses. :)
