I have some credit card debt, of which in one I defaulted a few months back. Can I take out another credit card?

Yes. You can take out another credit card even when you have defaulted only one credit card. But I would suggest you to avoid taking out another card when you have already defaulted on one. If you really want to take another card, then borrow a balance transfer card to consolidate high-interest debts into a low-interest card.
