How long should I wait to take out another credit card after obtaining one?

I have taken out a credit card last month. Ideally, how long should I wait before applying for another credit card, so that it doesn't impact my credit report and score?

Usually, the financial advisors say that it's better to wait for about 6 months after you take out one credit card. And, try to limit your inquiries to 6 while taking out a credit card. You can take out another credit card after about 3 months if you have excellent credit.
