I admit up until now I have been a credit retard and now my score is S.O.L but I want to change it. where do I start? I have heard that things only stay on the report for so long, is that true and if so how long is that? there are 8 negative things on my report dating back to 02 should I pay off the old things or the new things first? the total amout that I own is under 3,000 is there any sort of consolidation service that can help me??

First of all, which state do you reside in? What type of debt accounts do you have? Statute of Limitation (SOL) differ from State to State and account type.
If SOL of a debt gets expired then you can send a dispute letter to the concerned credit bureau and dispute the same. If they can't verify the debt then they are obliged to remove it from your credit report.

Debt Consolidation or debt management seems to be good in your case. But have you tried to lower your debt by yourself? I think it is the best way.
