Canadian with US Credit

So I was looking at my credit report and there is a charge from some apartment company on my report for $2100. Now I didn't get my social or work Visa until Sept 2007 and this bill is from March 2007. I have disputed it obviously, but just want to know if I have standing since I didn't have legal means to lease in the first place.
