Thanks for any help and insight.

If you are an authorized signatory to the credit cards, it means that you are also liable for the debt and you are required to pay it off. Since the account has already been charged off, it is very difficult to remove the charged off listing from your credit report before seven years. However, you should contact your creditor and settle the account for less and pay it off in order to avoid judgment which may further affect your score.

Woah!! Wait a minute...pam...did you actually sign anything therefore making you liable? Or did they just add you as an authorized user??
I believe if you didn't sign the contract, they may have no recourse from you.
I would dispute with the credit bureaus - many times this kind of thing is removed.
Also, I know this question has been addressed before on this site, so use the search box above...type in authorized signer on credit card, or something like that.

I didn't sign anything. My dad just told me he had taken care of things so I could use their card. It was a card mom had applied for years ago and had been using. I had used her card many times when buying their needed items at Walmart but they started questioning why my name wasn't on the card I was using. Dad either called or got online and had me added. I didn't sign any document. I think I will try disputing it first to see what happens.
thanks for your help!

I could be wrong, of course, so it is definitely a great idea to dispute it. But I honestly believe that you will eventually be forced to pay it.
