I have had problems with my credit due to personal problems, drinking.. I have had a repossession org amount 32,000, 11,000 which was written off. On my account i had 7 collections.. after having 4 deleted I still sit on 12-13K in collection dept..mostly from the repo. What is the best way to handle this dept.. i have a (401)type account which i owe 600.. once i pay off that my available amount to borrow will be around 7000.. I really hate getting back into that account because i wanna have money to retire on. How do you deal with lenders to handle suck a big charge off amount? In the almost 2 years, they have not made any effort to contact me.. but deep down inside, i feel guilt. i want to make everything right..

I was never taught how to manage my accounts.. i really too forgranted what i had before and i am coming so far along.. i hope to have the car lease company paid off within a year.

Welcome to the Community :D You can't keep them from charging interest, only if it's an illegal amount. What type of repo was this?

If you signed up for the free credit counseling, someone from your area will contact you and discuss what options you may have concerning your debt. There are several options, debt consolidation and debt settlement being two of them.

What state are you in and when was the last payments you have paid, or when they were deliquent?

I have had credit card companies work with me and drop and lower the interest so I could get caught up, don't know if this will work with you.

I hope you also have gotten your drinking problem addressed, if not, the same behavoir and patterns will follow- sorry- that is just the counselor coming out!

Feel free to ask questions, we are here to help you!..KAren
