Credit report, but never a letter...

What if you see a listing on your credit report from a Collection Agent, it's been on there since May/June or July... and you've never received any communication from them? Does sending a debt validation letter warrant them responding or else they have to remove it, or how do I go about addressing this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I do recognize them, they haven't been paid on in approximately 18 months and they've been sold, resold and resold 5 times over now... and not one agency in the past has ever responded to any validation requests...

This should be your first priority. It sounds like you have tried to validate it without any luck. Dispute the debt with the credit bureau and they will get you the info you need.
