When I (stupidly) applied for PDL not knowing they were illegal, the PDL companies went crazy with inquiries on my credit. Now my inquiry field is an arms length long! What can I do, if anything. to remove the inquiries from my credit history?

Since they had permissible purpose to pull your report, you are stuck with them. THey will remain for 2 years.
