Credit Report. Date of last activity...

From what I understand, items can stay on my credit report for up to 7 years from the date of last activity. My concern is the accounts I had in collections from 2002 until now... I recently paid them all in full. Does that mean they can now report for another 7 years, because the payment is considered new activity? I'm worried that paying them was the wrong thing to do (credit wise).

So for example if I have an item on my credit report and the last date of activity was 7.5 years ago I can dispute it as such and it will have to be removed?

If you have a derogatory item on your report that has a DOFD older than 7.5 years then yes you can dispute it. DOLA is a non-factor for federal reporting time limits. You can have positive's remain on your report that have a DOLA older than that but remember, positives help your score. Even older tradelines that are no longer active (old paid off auto loans) help the paymnent history factor of the score.

I just received my credit reports (all 3) on it lists old debts that I know have not been paid on since august of 2002. but the last activity dates listed on my reports is as cuurrent as this past fall. how is this possible?.
Also is it not true that in New York State the statue of limitations is 6 years on unpaid debt, that being I can get it removed from my reports. How do I go about getting the old (6 years or more) debt removed. Thanks!

Is date of delinquency and date of default the same thing?
My credit report is showing Date of First Delinquency and it shows 4/02. Does this mean that the bureau will not remove this from my credit report for 7.5 years from that date? I am in California. thanks

Thanks, did the time period change recently to 7.5 years from 7? If there was a payment made a few years ago on the same account would this change when the charge off would be removed?

Okay I use truecredit and recently was just alerted about a new account, but the strange thing is that this account has been reporting from the start on my credit reports. So why would I get this alert and how can I get information:

Account Information
A new account has appeared on your credit report.
Here are the details of this new account:

Reported By: Equifax
Reported On: 01/05/2009
Date Opened: 01/01/2002
Account Number: 3-08***
Creditor's Name: JD BYRIDER
Address: 1850 E Main St
Mesa, AZ 85203-9022
Phone Number: (602) 649-1954

If anyone uses truecredit please let me know how this works.

Thanks

the only thing that means is that they updated your report. companies will do that, some more often than others. They simply update the report to show that they are still reporting it as it appears. note the "Date reported on"....that is when they updated the report. This does not in any way affect you at this point, as long as their reporting is accurate. Some companies will update just about every month, while others will not do it for years.

In idaho it is 5 years and I have cavalry portfolio services sending me letters from a law office trying to collect the debt.Should I be worried and is it past the statue of limitations?

I just reviewed my credit reports and most of the negative accounts do not have a date of last activity. I disputed these accounts with one of the reasons being no date of last activity. The credit bureau completed their investigation and updated my report still with no date of last activity. Is this date required to be on my report and if so where can i find the legal documents to present to the credit bureau to have this corrected or removed.

hi, i have a question, i am doing settlement with 5 credit card companies but what i don't like is that they are reporting legally paid for less than the full amount. and my question is all those accounts are old but i dont know how old they are, is there a way to see when was the first delinquency on the account in the credit report? also since i am doing settlements now did i reset the 7.5 years before the credit bereus take them out of the credit report? i think that those accounts are almost 7 years old....

and my other question is, since i am doing settlements, should i be afraid of another collections agency taking the rest of the balance? because i have not receive no letter from the collection agencies that i settled the account, the only way that i can notice the settlement is if i pull out my credit report.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi, I have been a customer of True Credit since 2006. I printed my report then and printed my report again today. The Open dates on several delequent accounts have changed to a more current date and all these accounts were years before up to 2001 that I could not pay them. Thats more then 8 yrs ago they went delequent, How can I dispute the dates on that and have them removed. Is that legal to change the open date?
