What is a debt validation letter?

A debt validation letter is a legal document which refers to a consumers' right to challenge a debt and get a written verification of the same from the debt collector such as the credit company or a collection agency.

Debt validation is especially essential when a debt collector contacts you for an old debt or a debt you're not sure of owing.

The sending of the debt validation letter to a debt collector makes the debt collector legally bound to prove the debt failing which, he cannot pursue collection processes.
