I'm in the process of cleaning up my credit. I noticed that I had a few collection agencies listed for the same credit card debt 2 or 3 times on my report. So i contacted all 3 major bureaus to dispute. Experian, was the first to get back to me, they deleted some accounts that were listed more than once, and others they update as transfered/closed account/charge off. Is this right? I don't undersand why they can delete some and then update others with that verbiage. So, now i'm still showing the same credit card account by 2 different collection agencies and once by the original creditor, with 2 of them having the transfered/closed account/charge off next to them. Should I dispute this again so i only have one of them showing up on my credit? please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Any account can only be reported once time. Most likely they were able to validate the account, and deleted duplicate reporting of the same account by different agencies.

Yes dispute the others again, and tell them you believe the Collection Agency reporting are duplicates of the OC report. Let the OC report remain( though negative, its better than having a Charge off and outstanding collection) and try to work on getting that cleared up. IF you are in a position to pay it in full ( and it is not past the SOL) you may be able to negotiate payment in full settlement if the reprot is changed to simply "Paid".

Does that make sense? if not feel free to PM me and I'll try to explain it better.
