how do i go about disputing wrong things on my credit report?

There are two avenues for disputing your credit report:

1) You can dispute with the credit bureau itself (Transunion, Experian, Equifax). They will forward your dispute to the creditor/CA for verification.

2) You can also dispute directly with whoever reported the information. Their name/address should be on your credit report, and you just send them a letter stating that you dispute the information and why.

In either case, the creditor/CA has 30 days to verify and/or update the information on your credit report. They have a duty to report factual information, and after those 30 days if you can prove it is inaccurate, then they are violating the FCRA by continuing to report false information.
