I am very good at paying my bills on time. In NOV of 2007 I bought 2 tires at Big O' tires. They talked me into gettting a credit card and saving 10%. I agreed. Big O NEVER sent me a bill for 4 months and I forgot about it as it was not much money. The 4th money I got a bill all in red stating it was 4 months past due - I got on the phone immediately same day and paid it. I begged them to take it off my credit score - they never sent me a bill. This was in November 2007 to Jan 2008 at which point is went back up to OK. My credit score went from close to an 800 and fell. I also had 2 small 30 days past due on other credit cards just from being young and not remembering to pay on time. This BIG O bill really really dropped my score. Instead of around a 780-800 I was now right around a 703 and has been since even though I have gained more credit since then and never missed a SINGLE payment on ANY account for over 3 years this Feb.
2 weeks ago I disputed this BIG O charge on the basis that they were to remove it once paid. They refused and because experian updated it - it dropped my score from GOOD credit to FAIR credit 682 points.
Any advice? This is completely ridiculous that your score can just DROP 21 points like THAT without anything negative happening.
Also I have the following: 100% access to credit (over $25,000), 7 credit accounts that are ALL in good standing including 2 auto loans that have NEVER missed a payment. NO public records and NO collections.
I want to REFI my house but I cant with this LOW score without paying out the nose for points. Im really REALLY frustrated. This low credit score is absolutely NO indication on my ability or track record.

Well, late payments remain on credit reports for 7 years. It could have been removed if your creditor had agreed to do so. But since they haven???t, I don???t think you can do much about it. You can send a Good Will letter to your creditor and request them to remove the negative listing from your credit report.
