I seem to recall hearing something about a federal law change in the works that prohibited employers from not hiring someone based on credit report. Is there any truth to this, and where might I find the statute if there is one? Does anyone have info on this? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I think you heard it right. In Oregon, a new law has been passed which prohibits employers from hiring, firing, suspending or demoting employees based on credit history. You can get the information in the following link: oregonlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2010/06/new_law_prohibits_credit_check.html

Keep me posted if you find anything more on this topic.
