so I got their horrible unsecured card but it is already improving my credit. I just need help to understand how to deal with them.
the limit they gave me is 250
immediate fees are 179
plus monthly 7, for the first year is 84

179 plus 84 is 263, which is 13 dollars more then the credit limit. quite disgusting.
now, i sent them 195 already. I need to know if I send them 68 more so they can have enough (entire 263) for the next 12 months will they still be charging me monthly. basically can I over pay and be left alone?
I just want to deal with them as little as possible and not at all if possible. I just want to give them their bloody 263$ and be left alone for the next 12 months.
and then should I close them or keep them reporting for 7$ a month, is it worth it.
Will new Obama credit card laws affect us who already have this situation.
thank you very much!

Most of the secured credit cards like Citibank cards and Discover cards come with 0 annual fees and so I don't think that $7 monthly charges is a good deal for unsecured cards. If you plan to close it after 12 months, then it is better not to build your credit history with this card as once you close you card, the credit history you have built on the card will be lost and your score will again come down. Can you tell us, what is your credit score?

If you want to keep the card for a year, you can go for it, and use it to build up a good history by making regular purchases with the card and paying back within the due date. If you continue doing this, you can easily take your score over 700 in a year. Once your score reaches 700, go for a secured credit card with no annual fees. The moment you get the new card, you close the old card with $7 monthly charges.
