I am currently trying to get out of payday loan situations and would like to repair my credit as soon as i can. I have a number of bad marks on my credit report and would like to start settling the debts.

Are the credit reports still free once a year, or do you have to pay for them now? I would like to get copies from each to see what exactly they are showing.

I know I have a student loan on there that I currently have in forebearance. Is there anyway to consolidate that so it doesnt look so daunting on my report?

SoapLady can advise you regarding your student loan but she'll likely want to know if it's Federal or Private. You can get a free credit report once per year from all 3 credit bureaus by visiting annualcreditreport(dot)com. You can print them from the website or call the number at the site and request to have them mailed to you.

I did go and print out the experian report. The student loan is thru sallie mae...is that considered federal? I noticed that there are many being shown as closed for it, does this negatively affect since there are so many?

As per Sallie Mae's official website, they offer private student loans. Thus, I don't think your loan through Sallie Mae will be considered federal. If you have been paying off your dues on time, then though you have a large number of loan accounts, it won't affect your credit badly. If you pay off the dues on time, it will have a positive affect on your credit.
