How do I get the credit bureaus to show a paid debt?

I have started getting zero balance letters from all of my creditors as I pay them off. I would like to send the information to the credit bureaus to update their files.
We are trying to improve our credit scores and decrease our debt/income ratio in order to get a better house and interest rate.
I assume that eventually the information would get to the credit bureaus (maybe), but we are trying to speed up the process in order to take advantage of the current real estate market.

It can sometimes take up to 90 days for the reporting agency's t
It can sometimes take up to 90 days for the reporting agency's to update info even after you send the info to the reporting agency's.
