Goodwill letter is normally used to repair your credit report. A borrower may send this letter to the lenders and ask them to remove late payments from his/her credit report. This letter can be used for both federal and private loans.
And yes..it works.

A goodwill adjustment letter is basically used to remove late payments from your credit report. This letter doesn't always work. But some consumers have been able to use it successfully.
