My credit is a mess. I was married and divorced about 5 years. I maxed out my cards and I couldn't afford to pay them, so I let them go. Can I still fix my credit? I have a company by the name of credit attorney and they haven't really done much, can you help me?

What do you mean by "so I let them go." ? I think they are charged off. Charge off lowers down the credit score and remains in your report for 7 years from the date of first delinquency. It can definitely improve if you are able to remove the negative listings from your credit report.
Are the debt accounts are still with the original creditor or collection agency?

To start with, go to annualcreditreport.com and pull copies of all three of your credit reports. It's free, once a year. Look them over, and prioritize the damage. Look for invalid addresses and such that are just plain wrong. Dispute those, a couple at a time, and they'll get removed. Don't dispute everything all at once, or the CRAs will think you're up to something. When you've gotten rid of all the easy stuff, see what's left, and prioritize that. Again, start with whatever's easiest, like a little account or whatever. Get through that, and work your way up to the big stuff.

And keep coming back in here, checking in, asking questions, and learning. It takes time, but it can be done. Ten months ago, my credit scores were in the mid-500s. Today, all three are in the low 700s. I didn't do anything fancy, or anything shady. And I did it myself, with help from our community here. You can do it, too.

Yep...my credit score has gone up, a bit, too. Thanks to people here and FINALLY getting sleep ( not worring about ALL of my bills..). It's such a relief knowing that you're not going to jail for your debts. Sometimes, i would think the CA's COULD put ya in jail. That was a bit scary.
