I just got the results of a credit report investigation from Experian with mixed satisfaction. I was wondering if someone knows what the best course of action is at this point.

The most troubling item was a supposed Federal tax lien against me processed in the Superior Court of Dekalb County Georgia. Yet, I have never lived in Georgia or owned property there. I checked with the IRS and they have no record of me owing outstanding debt. However, Experian investigated and said the item remains. How can this be? This is obviously not an action taken against me.

There were also MANY collection accounts that I know were not my debts that I challenged. Some were removed and some were not.

On the positive side, what I expected the most trouble with turned out fine. I challenged Asset Acceptance's illegal reaging of a debt and it was removed. I never expected those clowns to fold so quick.

Does anyone know the course of action I should take now to remove debts I know are not mine after the CRA says they have been verified?

Go to www.ftc.gov and download id theft affidavit.Fill it out and have it notarized. Write a dispute with experian noting the accounts are not yours and are based on fraud. Request 90 day fraud alert to be placed in file. Once they receive id paperwork and put fraud alert in file, this dispute becomes a id theft fraud dispute under the facta amendment added to fcra.

Ok, I got in touch with Experian about this and they were much more helpful with this than I thought they would be. It appears that other people with diffferent SSN and names were being reported on my account (don't how that could happen; How could I have more than 1 SSN?)

Anyway they appear to be clearing it up.
