Ok here is my situation, for the past few months i have been working on my credit by paying off accounts on my credit report. The frustrating thing is that these accounts are not being reported as being paid, now with experian i have requested that these accounts be up graded to paid, but when the results come back the accounts remain the same. So, what do i do now, do i call experian by phone and tell them to reinvestigate or do i mail a dispute letter, when i checked my latest report, my social security number is even off by one number, and they have addresses that i have never lived at. What are your suggestions on how to handle this because i am pulling my hair out over this.

Hi
According to FCRA every consumer has the right to dispute any information that he thinks to be inaccurate, false, incomplete or unverifiable with the CRA as well as the creditor. You can call Experian but in my opinion you should send them a dispute letter via certified mail with a RRR. Enclose the photocopies of the documents that support your claim. They might take time to respond to your letter, in this case you can send them a second letter. You have to literally force them to remove the negative items in your report. But you have to do it...after all your credit report is your financial resume.

Good luck
