My husband and I were in a car accident a few years ago, which racked up come medical bills that we were aware of, but our lawyer told us that they were being sent to the at-fault driver's insurance company. Well, his insurance company never paid those bills when they were due and they were sent to collection agencies. These collection accounts have severely damaged our credit ratings that we have worked so hard for.
All of the bills were paid upon reaching a settlement with the other driver's insurance company, but they're still showing as derogatory accounts.
Is there any way to have the collection agencies remove these records from our credit reports since they were medical bills from a car accident?

Hi Guest,

You may wish to file a complaint with the FTC "https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/" because they caused your credit harm by their administrative delays.

Send a dispute letter to the Credit Reporting agencies that it is not YOUR fault that the insurance company was late in paying, and therefor YOU should not be punished.
