Hello, I"m finding this website immensely grateful. I have a question about SOL in NY. I believe that it is six years here. But when does that time start? And what exactly can I expect to be the benefit of the SOL passing? Does anything disappear from my credit report, or do they just stop calling me, or what exactly?

I have a specific question in regard to this. I have an account on my credit report that shows it being first 30 days past due in June 2003.. it then goes on to note the date which 60 days, 90 days, etc passed, on up til it was "purchased by another lender" in July 2008.

Finding this other lender on my credit report I see that it shows Midland Credit Mgmt as the new lender, and it shows the date opened as Sept. 2008 and it says 'in collection' thru December 2009. Nevermind that I've never received anything in the mail or otherwise from these people... that aside, my question is this - WHEN is the SOL up for this account?

Would it be June 2010?

Thanks so much for all your advice. I am not looking to get out of meeting my financial responsibilities (where I have them), I simply am looking to understand how this all works. Thanks again!
